aLanguageBank works with both clients and linguists to create a list of standard translations for frequently used terms.  This list of words and phrases is compiled from the client’s source materials and other approved references.  Once approved, these translations create a terminology database for use by our linguists, thus ensuring consistency in translation.

TM Management

A Translation Memory is software that stores a phrase or sentence in a source language and its corresponding translation, created by a human translator.  When similar phrases are used in the source language, the translation memory “remembers” the translation of the similar phrase, helping the translator to maintain a consistency.  This is different from Machine Translation, where the computer attempts to create its own translation, usually word for word and often ignoring context, idioms, and cultural nuances.

aLanguageBank creates and maintains a translation memory database for individual clients.  We receive comments from the client on the translations and implement necessary changes for future accuracy and client approval.  This service increases the speed and accuracy of translations of large amounts of documents and can reduce translation costs considerably.
