The most recent version, neural machine translation, is better but is still limited to working at the sentence level. Researchers are unable to get MT to understand context. It can’t read context, and it can’t add context. Our translators, transcreators, copywriters, and other linguists always see and understand context because that is what makes the human brain different from computers. Context from the rest of the content in the project. Or context from the source culture, the target culture, the specific locale, the specific demographic, or even current events. Neurologists still don’t truly understand how language works in human brains.
